A smart Universal Theme Park packing list can be the difference between powering through your day or calling it quits before dinner.
After plenty of theme park trips (and learning the hard way what we wished we’d brought), this Universal packing list focuses on what makes family visits most enjoyable.
The Ultimate Universal Packing List
Here’s what to bring to make your park days smoother from early entry to park close.
Money-Saving Extras Worth Packing
I’ve included these items on our Universal theme park packing list to help avoid impulse purchases and keep the day running smoothly.
Themed Apparel (Pick a Land!)
One of the easiest ways to build excitement before you even walk through the gates is by letting everyone choose an outfit inspired by their favorite land.
Maybe your crew goes full wizarding robes for Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, or Wizarding France, Mario gear for Super Nintendo World, or Jurassic Park tees. (Depending which park you’re visiting.)
Buying ahead of time is almost always cheaper than shopping inside the parks — and you’ll be ready for photos the moment you arrive.

Nintendo Power-Up Band (If You Already Own One)
If your kids have visited Super Nintendo World before, don’t forget to pack your Power-Up Bands.
These bands let you collect digital coins, compete in interactive challenges, and unlock the Bowser Jr. finale — easily one of the coolest experiences in the land.
Important note: If you purchase bands pre-owned, you can change the name in the app, but you cannot reset the coin or key count.
You should know that you do NOT have to have bands to interact with the blocks throughout the land. Anyone can punch them and they’ll light up and ding.
Having the band though, you’re able to participate in the Battle against Bowser Jr which is a really fun interactive Boss challenge.

Interactive Wizard Wand (If You Already Own One)
Heading back into The Wizarding World? Bring your wand!
Interactive spells are scattered throughout Wizarding France, Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, and kids love revisiting their favorite spell locations trip after trip.
It’s one of the rare souvenirs that keeps delivering value long after you buy it, as long as you remember it on your Universal theme park packing list!

Universal Orlando App (Set Up Payment in Advance)
Download the Universal Orlando app before your trip and take five minutes to add your payment method so you aren’t messing with that during your visit.
Mobile food ordering saves a surprising amount of time, especially during peak lunch hours when lines balloon. The app also houses wait times, maps, show schedules, and your virtual wallet.
Height Certificates from Previous Visits
If your child measured too short for a certain ride on a prior trip and earned a height certificate, bring it along so you can cash it in and skip the line with 6 people.

Lanyard (Especially for Resort Guests)
If you’re staying at a Universal resort, a simple lanyard is incredibly handy.
Room keys often double as park tickets and Express Passes, and having that barcode ready to scan — instead of digging through a backpack — keeps you moving quickly.
Electronics
Power Bank
Between maps, mobile orders, ride photos, and wait times, your phone works overtime. A dead battery can quickly derail your plans. Bring your charging cable too — some parks offer recharge stations.
Fully Charged Phone with the Universal App
Wait times, dining, show schedules, and mobile payment all live here. Plus you’ll surely be capturing loads of photos and videos.
Health & Safety Essentials
This section prevents small hiccups from becoming day-derailing problems.
Pain Relievers
Long park days can mean sore muscles, dehydration headaches, or the occasional cranky adult. Having pain relievers on hand saves you from hunting down a gift shop when you’d rather be riding.
Ear Protection
Universal fireworks and even shows can get loud. For babies, toddlers, or anyone sensitive to noise, protective headphones can be the difference between excitement and overwhelm.
Sunscreen
Apply early, reapply often, and bring your own so you’re not paying theme park prices.
Basic First Aid
Band-aids alone can feel like a miracle when a blister threatens to slow your crew down. Of course, first aid stations exist, but handling small issues yourself keeps the momentum going.
Nausea Medicine
If anyone in your group is prone to motion sickness, pack Bonine or Dramamine for screen-based and high-intensity attractions.
Hand Sanitizer
Between ride restraints, locker touchscreens, and railings, you’ll use it constantly.
Keep a travel size in your day bag and a larger bottle in your stroller for quick access.
Small Ride-Friendly Bag
Many Universal attractions require lockers, so opt for a compact backpack, crossbody bag, or sling that fits easily inside.
The less you bring into the queue, the smoother the process. (This is another reason I love having a stroller to stow the majority of my belongings.)
Cooling Gear
Beat the heat with:
- Clip-on stroller fans are lifesavers for little ones.
- Handheld misting fans provide instant relief in long outdoor queues.
- Cooling towels
- Umbrellas for shade

Clothing
Extra Shoes
Switching shoes halfway through the day can feel like a reset button for tired feet.
They’re also clutch after water rides like Jurassic Park River Adventure. No one enjoys squishy sneakers. They will not let you ride barefoot.
Change of Clothes
Again, if you plan to enjoy water rides, bring a change of clothes for comfort.
Ponchos
Afternoon rainstorms roll in fast and disappear just as quickly. Ponchos pack small and cost far less than those sold in the parks. Plus, wear them on water rides to stay mostly dry.
Sunglasses and Brimmed Hats
Shade is limited in certain areas, and hours of direct sun adds up fast.
Snacks & Drinks
Good news! Universal is very generous with their carry in policies for food.
Soft-Sided Cooler
Universal allows small coolers, making it easy to pack drinks, quick meals, or leftovers you don’t want to toss.
Familiar Snacks
Grab some of your kids’ go to snacks to get through long lines or when energy dips. Fruit/Veggie pouches are mess-free and hydrating.
A Veggie Option
After a few indulgent theme park meals, something fresh hits the spot and keeps stomachs happier. This might be the only veggie consumed all day!
Beverages / Drink Mixes
One of the most overlooked items? Caffeine. Having bottled iced coffee in your hotel room helps you get out the door faster — a huge advantage if you’re aiming for early entry.
Electrolyte packets are another smart item on a Universal theme park packing list. Grab free ice water at the Freestyle machines and mix them in.
Just remember: no glass containers or alcohol.
Ziploc Bags
Underrated and endlessly useful. Use them to protect phones on water rides, divide snacks, store wet clothes, or organize small items in your bag.
Themed Treats
Surprise the kids with some on theme treats to sprinkle into their day in the parks. We found plenty of Mario and Harry Potter themed items at Five Below.

Stroller Packing
Even families who ditched the stroller years ago often reconsider at Universal. The distances are long, and excitement tends to crash hard by late afternoon. It’s also a place to store your belongings while you head into attractions.
Bringing your own has major advantages over renting inside the parks — especially if you want it for the journey from your hotel or parking lots.
Stroller Identification
Stroller parking can look like a sea of sameness. Tie on a bright ribbon or attach a small sign so yours stands out immediately.
Storage Caddy
Cup holders and extra pockets make items more accessible.
Packing Cubes
Store backup clothes and shoes underneath the stroller so everything stays organized.
Carabiner Hook
Perfect for hanging shopping bags or backpacks without sacrificing storage space.
